Tips and tricks
By Paul James
• To remove the salt deposits that form on clay pots, combine equal parts
white vinegar, rubbing alcohol and water in a spray bottle. Apply the mixture
to the pot and scrub with a plastic brush. Let the pot dry before you plant anything in it
• To prevent accumulating dirt under your fingernails while you work in the garden, draw
your fingernails across a bar of soap and you'll effectively seal the undersides of your nails
so dirt can't collect beneath them. Then, after you've finished in the garden, use a nailbrush
to remove the soap and your nails will be sparkling clean.
• Turn a long-handled tool into a measuring stick! Lay a long-handled garden tool on the ground,
and next to it place a tape measure. Using a permanent marker, write inch and foot marks on the
handle. When you need to space plants a certain distance apart--from just an inch to several feet--
you'll already have a measuring device in your hand.

This Month's TO do list!
PRUNE:
Azaleas and other Spring flowering shrubs after they
have finished blooming to encourage next years growth,
you may also prune all non-flowering evergreens.
-
PREPARE BEDS:
It's time to pull out the winter bloomers such as
pansies and violas...(yes they still look good but pull
them anyway!) and replace with heat tolerant annuals.
-
LAWNS:
As the temperatures rise, so should your lawn mower
blades. Cut Spring and Summer turf at a length of
3"-31/2" to avoid Summer burn out!

Our Roots
Green View Landscaping, a family owned and operated business, was established in 1994.
Wayne, Richard, and Ryan Saunders, father and sons, started Green View to provide
professional landscape services for both residential and commercial customers.
Green View Garden Center sprouted in 1999 to be a retail site for both homeowners
and landscapers to get all their landscaping supplies. Originally we offered only bulk
goods, but with the addition of interior designer, Katie Saunders Coleman, expanded to
include top quality plants, grass seeds, fertilizers, tools, bird seed and other gardening needs.
We understand the importance of our local economy, that's why we support our local
agricultural community and carry North Carolina grown trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.
Our N.C. growers have the experience and knowledge necessary to grow this region’s premiere plants.
Being in the horticultural industry, we strive to be green, mindfully aware of how our actions
today may impact our children’s future environment. Gardening is ever-changing and so are we.
Through our continuing education, we are able to provide our customers with current styles and the
latest industry standards.
We look forward to our continuing growth and servicing all your landscape needs.
